OK, I'm going to make reservations today for AGPLA.
I'm shocked at how much the theater costs...guess we're not really theater people... But we're going to do it because dds are just dying to see it. It looks like it doesn't open until May 9, though.
So, my big question is which meal will my picky eater be most pleased with? She likes all things plain...bread, spaghetti (no sauce), plain chocolate, cheese, bread, did I say any form of bread? LOL! My other dd will eat anything.
Which meal should I choose? Do they serve Brunch all day?
I'm so confused. I just decided last night that I should make reservations today, because dds said how excited they are about seeing the show and eating there when we go to visit Grandma this year. Yikes! I hope DH doesn't freak out when he sees the cost. Guess I'd better get selling on ebay...

They don't serve brunch all day and I think it's only served on weekends (not completely sure about that.) I would recommend that you do lunch rather than tea. Lunch is only a few dollars more and you get a meal. If you do the tea, you still have to feed your kids lunch before so it just makes more sense to do the lunch.
Other than the Bitty Burgers, I don't remember the kids' menu that much. I'm sure they also had chicken fingers. Your daughter sounds like my kids when they were younger.
We call it "white spaghetti" in our house. If it has sauce, it is "orange spaghetti."
P.S. I do think the theater is definitely worth the price, actually more so than the cafe. We've been to AGPNY twice now and if we get to go again we'll probably skip the cafe altogether. We actually saw the play there each time we went.

I was looking over the menu and wondering the same thing. We are a picky eating family. I was even wondering if you could order foods without sauces or like sandwiches plain, or do they all come premade. I can't help you with the menu, but I can help you on the brunch question. We made our reservations for the brunch and it is at 9:30, although they said to be there at 9:15 and it lasts for an hour. So, no it's not served all day.
Oh, and I am not sure if you noticed but the menu is online. That might help you decide.

We have onle been to AGPNY for lunch and dinner. I think going for a ful meal is your best option (as opposed to tea). Lunch is good and was a bit cheaper than dinner. My DD is a very picky eater and was happy with Chicken fingers. They also had a very cute tic tac toe pizza which DD got one time with no tics and no tacs (just plain cheese) but it still looked like a tic tac toe board.
The appetizers are really good and your picky eater shoud love the pretzel bread sticks. I made a point of giving DD all of the things that she would like (crackers) and I ate the veggies and all.
The show is a bit pricey but very comperable to other shows in our area. We have never been to any type of show where we paid less than $40 for tickets. I do recommend making resevations early. That way you can get the best tickets. When you go for your meal, check in atleast 20 minutes early and try to get a table by the windows (if AGPLA will have them)

They serve brunch at AGPNY until about 9:30, I think it should be the same. You could ask if they could make spaghetti for your daughter but without the Sauce I have asked for butter rather than sauce before I'm sure it won't be much of a problem. Good luck and have fun going to AGPLA!!

My picky eater liked the pizza (plain cheese of course.) She also like the dessert . We had plenty left-over and took it back to our hotel for dinner so in the long run the price wasn't too bad.

Hi, we've been to AGP Chicago twice now. I would also recommend either the lunch or dinner. They are both well worth the price. We actually had leftovers to take with us. AG makes it a cute experience for the girls.
We also enjoyed the theater experience. We are theater goers but I had my doubts about an "American Girl" play. However, I was pleasantly surprised by the professionalism of the performance.
The last time we went we actually scheduled a 2:00 play time and a 5:00 dinner time. We were able to enjoy some of Chicago's sites before arriving at AGP around 1:00. After we exited dinner the photography studio had absolutly no line and the store was not as busy.
Hope that helps.

We've done both brunch and lunch.
I really liked the brunch.
DGD had the yogurt and fruit and loved it.
I had French toast and liked that too.
Our 2 you DGD had the cute pancakes and they were fine for here.
One member of our group had the eggs Benedict and said it was good, too.
Got the little cinnamon rolls before the meal and for desert the mousse and cookies.
It was a really good meal and a lot of food.
I think we'll do brunch again.
Lunch was very good,too..tho.
edited to add:
You can look at the menus on the web site.
DGD doesn't eat pork and they were very nice about seeing that her meal was what she could eat.
But she ordered the yougert..so it didn't matter anyway.

I am a vegetarian (nothing to do with animals, just that I have a bizarre, but legit, phobia of meat, don't get me started, I won't even touch it) who has so many food allergies that I can only eat white bread, pasta, rice, and raw fruits and vegetables. Everything else WILL make me sick unless I make it myself with the few natural ingredients I can eat. That said, I had the best breakfast of my life at AGPC. I had the pancakes, and they took a list of what I couldn't eat when we made the reservations. For the dessert, they had even brought something I could eat. I was actually shocked to the point of tears that they would be so caring. So I say go for brunch.
